Rambagh ward in need of urgent attention
KANPUR: The Homeopathy dispensary building in the Rambagh ward has turned into a safe den for stray cattle as the Kanpur Nagar Nigam is yet to arrange for medical treatment.
The ward, situated in the heart of the city, boasts of the homeopathy dispensary that is lying defunct for long. Talking to TNN, locals said that doctors never visit the dispensary on time.

As a result patients keep away from it.
Besides, the dispensary lacks even basic medicines. Sources said that, few months back, during a sudden inspection of the dispensary the city commissioner had ordered for the allocation of Rs 2.5 lakh for its renovation.
Later, nagar nigam officials prepared a separate file for the dispensary. However, so far not a single penny had been spent to provide medical necessities and ensure repair of the dilapidated building.
The Rambagh ward also has the Sisamau bazaar — customer''s paradise and a hell for those living around it.
The bazaar has a large number of shops. The shopkeepers have rented the footpath in front of their shop to street vendors.
As a result, out of the 40 feet road, merely 22 feet space is left for commuters and vehicles crossing the bazaar from both sides.
Nagar nigam''s enforcement squad has been rendered toothless under the pressure of traders who have the backing of various political parties.

The four primary educational institutions of the ward are running in rented building at Bapukuti, Rambagh, Gandhi Nagar and Kasturba Gandhi Marg.
These schools are devoid of teaching atmosphere. As a result merely a handful of students are enrolled in them. A school teacher said, "We are trying our best to ensure proper teaching atmosphere in the school but shortage of resources have hit our efforts hard."
The pitiable condition of the lone park of the ward - Rambagh Park — aptly sums up the ailing ward. Recently, the nagar nigam had floated tenders for the construction of the boundary wall and light system. However, none of the contractors came forward.
Reason: Non-payment of their arrears. Due to the absence of maintenance the party has turned into a sty.
